As I sit here writing this article, I am listen to Andrea Bocelli and thinking of what to write. I haven’t wrote a article in a while, Which is probably since I just have not had time. Recently I moved my family to a new town and then I started a documentary on my local fire department, So as you can read I have been super busy. When I sit here listening to music and looking at my images, I try to think of what photography means to me. I try to think what photography means to others. I sometimes feel that my photography is a outlet, a outlet to let me free my mind. To let me free my imagination. When I am out taking photos, I fall into this world where it’s just me and my camera. Where

We went to a local state park and walk along the river for about 4 hours, We all took great photos. I took this one on a little stream heading towards the main river, I wasn’t the only photographer who was taking photos of this little dam, so I’m hoping that this image fits with the rest of them. It was a great day for a photo walk, It was cloudy and not to much sun and no rain. I have just purchased a few ND filters and I wanted to give them a try this day and I think they work really well. The little part of the dam had fallen away and you could see below the water and get that detail. It also

I packed up my gear and did a quick search on local laws pertaining to the power station. I wanted to make sure that you could still pull off the road and take a photos of it. They have been cracking down on people stopping their cars close to the plant because all the new Anti-Terrorism laws. Well, I didn’t find anything saying no, so I packed the family and we went on a small trip. When we got close to the plant, I was looking for great angles and views. I was raining quite a bit and I didn’t want to get my camera to wet. But I set it to Aperture mode

I took this particular photo in South Portland. It was about 0525 in the morning and I have my fellow photography lover with me and we were running around this lighthouse trying to find a perfect stop for that sunrise shot. I wanted to use my brand new Sigma 10mm Fisheye lens that I ordered right before I left for the trip. Although for this shot I didn’t feel it needed the added distortion I found the spot I was looking for and set up my 50D and my 17-85mm Canon and started to adjust the settings, and wait for that sunlight to fill my

This shot was taken right before we drove on to Bailey Island, Maine. It was so windy and so cold, I wasn’t sure if I should have gotten out but I did, I wanted to shoot this little boat landing area right before the bridge. High tide was coming in and Little mini Icebergs were surrounding me, so I had to hurry with the shot and only took a few before my pant legs and tripod were under water. Back in Lightroom, I took the photo cropped it a little to remove distracting objects. Then gave it a very slight S-Curve in Tonal Curve. The photo didn’t need much contrast and saturation, Because

I just love getting up at the crack of dawn, getting my gear ready and driving to locations. The feel and smell of the air is just the greatest feeling ever! The feeling you get when you set up your tripod, turn your camera on and look through that viewfinder and capture that first shot of the day! That day I woke up at 0500 and as soon as that alarm clock went off. There was a forecast for a little rain and maybe snow, but I was determined to get my shots. Watching the weather forecast is a very important factor when heading out for sunrise shots, and any landscapes

I always love going here, there are so many opportunities that you can take advantage of. Yesterday, I took the day and walked around the park for about a hour and a half. So I defiantly got some great photos! The lake was frozen and I believe it will be for a while. We are getting lots of really cold weather lately, which is great for snow and ice photogs. As I was walking around the park, I did venture out on to the ice. I did take it very slow I didn’t want my camera gear going in the drink along with me. I stayed close to the

I took this photo with my Canon EOS 50D on manual focus, and sitting on top of a very sturdyInduro Tripod. The tripod does a great job in the ice, it holds on so well. I was very careful about the ice, because I knew it was thin. I was sitting on a big rock so I didn’t have to get my butt wet. I was originally shooting horizontally, but I felt the photograph was lacking, so I turned the camera vertical to see if it would make it pop and lo and behold it make it jump! I’ve shot all my recent shots at marsh creek, Because its rare that it’s all frozen. I’ve never

I ran across this one and I remember the day, when was driving around Chester county, PA and I happened to stumble upon this scene and thought I could pull over and grab a few shots, I jumped out and set up my kit on the small patch of grass on the left side of the road. Set up the frame and exposure, shooting in AP mode, set the shutter to 125th of a second let the 50D figure out the exposure of f-11 and got about 6 shots out before there was way to many cars slowing down to see what I was up to, so I had to abandon the shoot and move on. Back in lightroom, I decided to not try another HDR,
