I have come up with a good list of the Top Facebook Marketing Tips for Photographers that have worked for me in the past and I hope they work for you. These tips have helped me get to over 200 “likes” on my page. I have had tremendous help from Facebook’s own marketing page. You will also find that is it one of my images on their cover photo! Which is awesome!
Facebook Marketing Tips
#1: Give people a reason to become fans: Give fans a reason to “like” your page, by giving them a “Call to Action”. For example would be to offer a special discount or free Lightroom Presets, etc.
#2: Stay on topic: This all depends on what type of photography you do of course, but If your a wedding photography keep the content in the wedding industry. People are easily confused so its best to stay on topic. I write about tons of things so I can keep it fresh all the time.
#3: Ask the right kind of questions all the time: There is only one way to get Facebook users to talk, and thats to talk about interesting stuff. I am planning on some pretty cool blog post to really get my fans to get involved and stay there.
#4: Include pictures in your Facebook updates: If I know one thing about Facebook it’s people like PHOTOS! When I post a article from my blog on Facebook, It MUST have a image related to the article. This make fans more willing to read if there is a awesome photo to go with it!
#5: Celebrate your milestones: Since Facebook’s new Timeline feature, you can add milestones, For example when your started shooting professionally or when you shot your first wedding. Those kind of things can really had a feeling of history about your company.
#6: Facebook Fridays: It is know that Facebook has a special time on fridays when people are most “happy”. You can take advantage of this time to do something a little different. On friday’s I am going to start allowing all my fans to promote their pages, Blogs and Twitter and Google+ accounts on my page all day Friday! I know other people who do it and I think its a great idea to get a community going. Also Remember people LOVE PHOTOS!
#7: Run a Facebook contest: I have never been lucky when it comes to contest, but tons of fans love contest and the chance to win things. Since I am a wedding/portrait photographer, I could have contest for a chance to win maybe free prints or maybe even a free portrait session. It doesn’t hurt to add a little excitement to your page! It also could get their friends in on the contest also, so thats a added bonus.
